BMX/Mountain Cross

Who were your heroes growing up?

I liked to watch a lot of different people and try to pick the best qualities from everyone.  I was never a kids with posters on my wall or anything like that, so I dunno.  Just rode my bike a lot, played soccer, and went to school.  I guess I have a lot more respect and pay closer attention now to top athletes.

What has been your career highlight so far?

Olympic medal was quite a big highlght, for obvious reasons, but mostly it touched so many people and I had to overcome a major knee injury.  Was proud for my country and the sport of BMX to have it's moment.

What advice do you have for an aspiring athlete?

Put in the hours and be a good person.

What do you do in your free time?

Keep a sketchbook, hike, fix up trails :), watch NBA, ride moto, explore, garden, etc.  There are a lot of interests I have, but right now I dedicate most all of my thoughts and energy towards getting better at riding bikes.

What was your favorite subject in school?

Art and science.  Probably part of the reason I went to school for design.
