-Who were your heroes growing up?
My parents are obviously the ones I looked up to for guidance, support and they helped mold me into the man and dad I am today.  On the baseball side, I loved Cal and Ozzie.  I emulated everything they did on the field as shortstops.

-What is your career highlight so far?
Winning the World Series in ’95 was what I will always remember.  Personally, I will remember the month of September in ’99 that really helped us win the division and put me in the hunt for the MVP.

-What is the best part about being a baseball player?
The competition and hitting the field with 24 other guys with the same goal in mind.  I will miss that when I ultimately hang ‘em up.

-If you were not a baseball player what would you be?
I can’t imagine not being in sports in some way.  It is all I’ve known since I was 18 years old, so that’s a tough question.  I was just born to play baseball.  In my next “life”, I will focus on just being a dad.  The best job I could ask for.

-What advice would you have for an aspiring pro athlete?
Work hard in the classroom and on the field. Both of those are equally important to succeed in life.  Without one, the other doesn’t exist.
