-Who was the toughest fighter you ever faced?
My toughest fight was a fight that I actually won.  It was against Demetrious Davis.  Reason why this was the toughest fight for me is because I was a young up and coming pro, and this guy was already a seasoned veteran who fought some good fighters.  He was a lot bigger and stronger than me as well.  I was still growing and maturing as a fighter.  This was also a fight in which I made my national TV debut on ESPN.  I ended up fighting this guy in a last minute switch of opponents.  I never even saw him weigh in.  But when I got into the ring, I could see that this guy looked a lot bigger than I did.  It ended up being a great fight in which I was knocked down for the first time in my career (148 amateur fights).  Here I was on national TV and I found myself on the ground.  I think this made me more hungry and eager to win the fight.  I picked myself up and continued to fight.  It became a war.  The following round was even better.  I put him on the ground this time with a straight right hand counter.  He got up and continued to fight hard.  I ended up winning by decision.

-What has been your career highlight?
I'd have to say I had a few career highlights.  The ones that stick out most was winning the NABO Middleweight Championships and being on the first season of NBC's TV Show "The Contender".  Winning the NABO Championship got me to be rated in the top ten in the world by two divisions.  "The Contender" came calling for me after I retired from boxing.  It was a couple years after I had retired that I was asked to be part of this show.  I was not active as a fighter at the time, so I can't say I was 100%.  But it was still a great opportunity.  Working with Sylvestor Stallone and Sugar Ray Leonard was also a great time.

-What advice do you have for an aspiring boxer?
When you love what you do, you will succeed.  No matter what it is, you will succeed if you do it with passion.  Don't let people tell you that you can't do something.  Blow the negativity off, laugh at it, and continue to work hard.  I guarantee you will succeed if you have the passion for what you are doing.  This goes for non-athletes as well.  I think this should be a motto for success.

-What does your typical day look like?
I am now in the real estate business and own a real estate company called American Realty Group in the Detroit area.  We purchase and sell bank foreclosed homes.  So my typical day is waking up, going for a run, then heading to my office or going to check out some bank properties.  I usually head to the gym later in the day.  Still trying to stay in shape even though I am not boxing anymore.  I spend the rest of my day with my wife and my 8 year old daughter Ava.  I usually chill out at some lounges with my wife on the weekends or just take it easy.  I also like to go on little getaways as much as I can.  Like going to Vegas, LA, NY or Miami.

-What was your favorte subject in school?
English.  I really enjoy reading and writing.  I can actually say my grammer and writing skills are pretty decent...LOL

-Who were your heroes growing up?
I really had no heroes growing up.  I always wanted to be "Me".  I never wanted to be like anybody else.  I did have favorite athletes as a kid.  Dan Marino was one of my favorites.  Muhammad Ali was another.  If anybody should be a little boy's hero, it should be their father.  But many little boys unfortunately do not have this.
