Oklahoma City is Heading for a Thunderstorm

A reason why everyone should be scared of the Oklahoma City Thunder

By RENEE MILLIGAN

The Oklahoma City Thunder has made a name for themselves as one of the top competing NBA teams. Since moving from being the Seattle Sonics to becoming the Oklahoma City Thunder, the team not only made crucial trades but they have grown together and have triumphed as one of the most promising young teams in NBA history.

After relocating to OKC, there was a tough decision to be made. Would trading power forward Jeff Green be beneficial for the team or be detrimental? That question was answered in early 2011 when OKC traded Green and Nenad Krstic for Boston Celtics’ Kendrick Perkins and guard Nate Robinson. This set up OKC perfectly, allowing Perkins to compete with big guys like Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol in the western conference. This trade made the Thunder a defense machine to match up along with the fine tuned offense.

The OKC offense that entails key players Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden can adapt to any defense they are playing. Scoring has never been an issue with the Thunder and that is what scares opposing teams the most. To think that these players are all under 23 years old is unbelievable. Durant, Westbrook, and Harden should be in the learning stages of their professional careers but instead are playing like they have been in the league for 8 years. To be that young but so grounded is unheard of in the world of professional sports.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are not going anywhere. It was just two seasons ago they were making playoffs and then in 2012 making it as far as the finals. It is only safe to say that this team grows and becomes better each year. They are a young family of players who are determined and have full careers ahead of them. It is not a question of if but when we will see them winning a championship.
