LaTesha T.

Rams Cheerleader

1.) What advice do you have for an aspiring cheerleader?

My advice for an aspiring cheerleader would be to stick with it, and never let anyone tell you that you can’t do something! I believe that all things are possible if you set goals, are determined to succeed, and are self-motivated.

2.) What is your career highlight so far?

So far, my career highlight is definitely graduating from the University of Missouri-Columbia in May 2012. As a first generation college student, it was an honor to be able to accomplish one of my long-term goals, while having the support of family and friends encouraging me to maintain my focus.

3.) What is your favorite part about being a cheerleader?

My favorite part about being a cheerleader is being able to touch the lives of others by simply doing something I am passionate about, which is cheering. The cheerleaders participated in over 770 hours of community service in 2012. It’s heart-warming to see people of all ages excited to meet the cheerleaders and have an opportunity for photos and autographs.

4.) Who were your heroes growing up?

Growing up, I looked up to my parents and my grandmother. I have always admired my mom’s spirit of being a hard-working, determined entrepreneur, while also going above and beyond to make sure that I was raised in the best environment possible. My dad, also an entrepreneur, set the tone for our family by being a great provider, and ensuring that education was a priority in our household. My grandmother was the core, instilling spiritual principles and teaching me great life lessons.

5.) What is your favorite subject in school? Why?

My favorite subject in school was math. I have always been great with numbers, and math has just been one of those subjects that seemed to come very easily to me.

6.) What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time I enjoy working with children. I am currently the director of two Childcare Centers, both of which I will own and manage in the next few years. I am a dance teacher at a local studio for children age 2-18, and I am also a Children’s Church and Nursery teacher at my church.
