Eagles Cheerleader

1.) What advice do you have for an aspiring cheerleader?

Work hard on dance, cheerleading and gymnastics skills. Each cheerleader has their own strengths and weaknesses, and each person brings something different to the team. Have confidence in your strengths and bring it!! If you're going for the NFL, I would highly recommend taking dance classes such as hip hop and jazz and work on cheer motions. Many NFL teams offer workshops to attend before auditioning. The Philadelphia Eagles have a very informative pre-audition workshop that includes dance technique from our choreographer, fitness tips from trainers, hair and make up suggestions from the salon that does our hair and make up for photo shoots and game day, and finally question and answer with the current Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleaders. My recommendation would be to make sure your you are in the best shape of your life, hair and make up are done properly and you have an outfit that stands out so you can get noticed when auditioning! Our team has many different looks and personalities, no two girls are the same. On the Philadelphia Eagles, we all bring something different whether it's dance ability, modeling experience or public speaking experience. Play up your strong attributes and work on others - but just remember you don't need to be the best at everything!

2.) What is your career highlight so far?

Three years ago, I travelled to Iraq and Kuwait on a Military Goodwill Tour with five of my Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleaders teammates. We met hundreds of servicemen and women at various military bases. While it was interesting to stay in the barracks and traveling on Black Hawk helicopters, it was a life changing experience being able to see first-hand the sacrifices that US Troops are making to protect our freedom and safety. There were a few times that sandstorms grounded us for a few days at the bases which really gave us time to talk at length with the members of the military stationed there.

3.) What is your favorite part about being a cheerleader?

I love the opportunities to do charitable work such as the Eagles Youth Partnership Playground Build or participate in the Eagles' Go Green initiative - one event in particular that I enjoyed was spending several hours as with the whole squad cleaning up the Delaware River. There are so many wonderful events that the Philadelphia Eagles host or send us to to lend a helping hand within our community.

4.) Who were your heroes growing up?

My heroes are my parents. They were always my #1 fans. I can't remember a time they didn't come see me in a performance, sporting activity or even a school function. Their constant support for me has made me who I am today and has given me all of the confidence I need to be the best that I could be in all aspects of my life.

5.) What was your favorite subject in school? Why?

I am a physical education teacher now, so I'd have to say P.E. was my favorite subject! Movement is fuel for the brain and has been proven to improve test scores in the classroom. As a P.E. teacher, I want to make learning fun, so I bring content areas into my own lessons and I try to make it as fun for my students as it was when I was a student.
