Some Universities have "Fans", but we have The 12th Man

 By Alex Parker

As a football fan, there are no experiences comparable to the ones you will have inside Kyle Field. While the Aggies “saw varsity’s horns off” you can feel the sway of the structure and the deep roar of the crowd echoing through the concrete walls. Texas A&M University currently has a student body of over 50,000 students with a campus extending over 5,200 acres making it one of the largest Universities in the nation. With a strong hold for tradition, leadership, and school spirit the entire student body stands behind A&M athletics as The 12thMan. With a capacity of over 83,000 fans, Kyle Field has earned recognition as being the top football stadium by CBS sports line and one of the top football weekends by Sports Illustrated on campus. This kind of praise has been earned by not only the football team, but by the faithful Aggies who stand relentlessly, rain or shine, win or lose, supporting their football team.

Being an Aggie is hard to explain. The saying goes “from the outside looking in you can’t understand it, and from the inside looking out you can’t explain it”. When you stand every game, for each second, in intense Texas heat, you begin to feel like you’re a part of something so grand and so huge the feeling can some times overwhelm you. Each Aggie becomes emotionally invested in every football game, which is why there are no greater fans in college football than the 12thman.

With its recent move to the SEC, the greatest conference in college football, Texas A&M University’s athletic future has been the talk of the nation. Until this past 2012 inaugural, SEC football season, the program has been vastly underestimated. In the midst of a Cotton Bowl Championship, and let us not forget the 2012 Heisman winner Johnny Manziel, a new light now hangs over the Texas A&M football team, College Station and its 12thMan.
