Bjorn Rebney

Bellator CEO

1.) What advice do you have for an aspiring sports professional?

The first piece of advice I'd give, would be to approach the business in a pleasantly relentless way. There are so many people whose life dream is to be in sports. The only one's who will make it, are those who are willing to work all day everyday, often times into the night,  those who are unwilling to take no for an answer, and those who are willing to spend an amazing amount of energy and focus trying to make that dream come reality.

2.) What are your goals for Bellator for 2013 and beyond?

2013 has been a good year, and our first year on Spike TV. It's also been the first time we've averaged over 1 million views per show. The goals for the rest of 2013 is to keep building on that success on Spike. Going into 2014, enhance the numbers, build our viewership stronger. Start looking into Pay-Per-View events. We also want to keep expanding our reach into more international markets. Currently, Bellator is seen in about 120 countries around the world. I'd like to see that reach expand into about 150 countries around the world in 2014.

3.) How did you decide the format on Fight Master?

The format on Fight Master was made with myself, with Kevin Kay who had Spike TV, and with Bertram van Munster who had the production company who produced our show and produced The Amazing Race. We all came together and put in our 2 cents and gave our thoughts on how it could work. The 3 companies decided what the format should look like and how it should work. I'm really happy with it.

4.) What is something about running a major sports organization that a casual fan may not know about?

Fans might not know that it doesn't stop. There is never a moment when you're running a company like Bellator, where you turn off the computer, and phone. It's constant, it's everyday and every night. What fans need to know, and someone who's interested in getting into a business like this is it never stops. So if you don't love it, it is something you should not get involved with. It takes an amazing amount of your time.

5.) Who are some fighters to look out for in 2013 and beyond?

Vitaly Minakov, he will be fighting in our tournament championship on July 31st. Another fighter, is the guy who's fighting in that tournament, by the name of Ryan Martinez. I have huge high hopes and expectations for our current Lightweight Champion Michael Chandler. I think he'll establish himself as a top 2 lightweight. People should keep an eye on the return of Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. He has big things coming up in 2013 and 2014. I also think King Mo is a guy people should pay attention to. He is going to have a huge year this year and I'm exited to see him back in the cage on July 31st and challenging for the World Title this Fall.

6.) What was your favorite subject in school? Why?

I was always interested in any classes that have something to do with business development. Anything that had to do with starting a business.
