Yuri Foreman

Pro Boxer

1.) What advice do you have for an aspiring boxer?

I assume that an aspiring boxer already is a hard worker. I’ve been in boxing for 18 years now, and there are no shortcuts. You always have to be professional in the gym. You have to be honest to the sport, and to yourself. You have to work, and constantly continue growing. Try to improve your skills.

2.) What has been your career highlight?

I would say winning the world title. The reason I started boxing is because I wanted to be a world champion. Winning the title was a huge accomplishment in my career.

3.) If you had the choice, who would you like to fight next?

Right now, I’m on my comeback trail. I would like to fight the best. I need to develop my skills, and my boxing form. Whoever is holding the title, I would like to fight them.

4.) What does a typical day look like for you?

When I’m training for a fight, I wake up in the morning, I have a breakfast, then I go to the gym at about 10:00 AM, I do my workout for about 2 hours (heavy bag, shadowboxing, jump rope, stomach exercise, sparring sessions). Then I will come home and eat lunch, rest, then at 6:00 or 7:00 PM I will go for a run. I also work on my strength and conditioning.  I train twice a day.

5.) What do you like to do when you’re not boxing?

I try to stay busy. I have a couple of goals ahead of me. I hang out with my family. I’m working on finishing my rabbi exam.
