.) What advice do you have for an aspiring MMA Fighter? It has to be something you love to do and if it's something you are considering doing as a profession. You're not going to make a lot of money at first, and even when people get to the UFC, they're not making as much money as people think they are. So if your heart isn't into it, and your not 100% dedicated to the sport, it's not something you should be doing for the glamour, you should be into it for heart, and for the love of the sport.
.) What has been the highlight of your career? Probably one of my head kick knockouts against Michael Arrant. One of them was 18 seconds at Ring Of Fire 33. I caught him with a back leg roundhouse kick to the head.
.) What are your goals for 2013? It's going to be a standout year for me, I'm trying to make as many moves as possible. I'm trying to stay as healthy as possible. I want the UFC and the world to see what I have to offer. I've had some impressive fights and with wins by knockout. I want to show the skills I haven't showed yet. Going into the UFC this year, I know the skill level is going to increase, and I know that the better fighter I face, the better fighter is going to come out of me.
.) What does a typical day look like for you? I get up in the morning, I make my food (oatmeal) and protein shake, kiss my girlfriend goodbye, go to my morning practice (jiu-jitsu or sparring), I go to my strength and conditioning at 2:00 PM, then I have my second round of training at 4:00 PM (wrestling or classes I teach).
.) What do you like to do in your free time? I still have a social life. I go out a lot, sometimes to the clubs downtown because I like to dance. |
