Mitch Clarke

UFC Fighter

1.) What advice do you have for an aspiring MMA Fighter?

A good gym to start off with. You have to find what style you like. Build up a base, and start training hard. Find what you like, and slowly progress.

2.) What has been the highlight of your career?

That last win was the highlight for sure. People didn't understand why I was so emotional. I'm not an exceptional athlete, I'm not really anything special, but the biggest thing I always bring is hard work, and a "never quit" attitude. A lot of people said I would never make it to the UFC, and they said I would never win in the UFC. To beat John Maguire meant a lot, and it showed me that all the sacrifices I made were all worth it.

3.) What are your goals for 2014?

To get back in the cage. I would like to make my UFC record even. Hopefully, I could make it on a main card of a UFC event, that would be a long-term goal.

4.) What do you like to do in your free time?

I am a pretty low-key guy. I like watching Netflix, the biggest thing is I'm trying to learn how to cook, it's something I'm not very good at, but I like it.

5.) What does a typical day look like for you?

It changes every day. I will do a pro team practice in the morning, afternoon I work on my muay thai, and then at night I do jiu-jitsu and/or boxing. During the off season it's still pretty packed, as I still try to work on my overall game. It's a hard weight class.
