Cole Miller

UFC Fighter

1.) What advice do you have for an aspiring MMA Fighter?

Train often. Train hard. Train Smart. Understand nutrition. Listen to your body, Overtraining WILL lead to injury and missed opportunities. Put your career into someones hands you can trust. Don't leave it to the judges. Be prepared for lots of disappointment and be willing to go through obstacles for little reward.

2.) What has been your career highlight so far?

Definitely when I beat Jorge Gurgel. It wasn't just defeating him. It was finishing him with Jiu Jitsu. I knew that the fight was going to test me going into it and it did. I tore my knee, which needed surgery later, in the fight. I got 3 lacerations on my face. I had some other physical ailments going on as well. Staying in the fight and being determined from bell to bell and believing in my technique is what got me the win in that situation.

3.) What are your goals for 2014?

In 2014 I would like to just stay with the UFC, keep fighting, and hopefully stay uninjured. I've had a tough UFC career plagued by injuries as you can see from my history of only having 2 fights per year from 2007-2012. This year is my first 3 fight year since before I was with the company which I am thrilled. Hopefully 2014 I will able to say the same.

4.) What does a typical training day look like for you?

In training camp it's a lot of training, driving, and resting between sessions. It's a 12 hour day pretty much between going to sessions, working out, showers, meal prep, etc. Boxing, wrestling, kickboxing, brazilian jiu jitsu, strength and conditioning. I would say it's the same as any other professional fighter's.

5.) What do you like to do in your free time?

I like to play video games. I'm real big on the Nintendo products right now. the WiiU is amazing along with the 3DS XL I purchased. Those are my two favorite purchases of this year. I also like to do triathlon, although I wasn't very active this year. My coaches do not like me doing them as much when I am training for fights, so I change a lot just to keep them happy. When I'm done fighting I'll be doing a lot more of them and have active years like I did in 2012. I'm also into my Vespa  it's a 2012 S50 but I've bought a lot of goods to tune it and accessories to add to the aesthetics. I've also been doing a restore/build of my 1992 Honda Civic hatchback which I hope will grace the pages of Honda Tuning next year.
