Nick LoBosco

WSOF Fighter

1.) What advice do you have for an aspiring MMA Fighter?

Start wrestling at an early age, and trying out any other combat sport. Get into kickboxing, boxing, and jiu-jitsu. I think wrestling creates a good personality for fighting and it gives you a competitive edge.

2.) What has been the highlight of your career?

I’m still waiting for it I guess. Being a main-event in front of 13,000 people was fun. I think the highlight of my career was not fighting, but coaching. I like coaching and teaching high school, and seeing kids do well, and watching them grow and succeed.

3.) What are your goals for 2013-2014?

Just fight as much as possible, and work my way up the ladder in WSOF and maybe become their first champion.

4.) What do you like to do in your free time?

I like to hang out with my dog! I like to take her out to the park, take her running, and teach her stuff. That’s my hobby.

5.) What does a typical training day look like for you?

Usually a cardio in the morning such as running, sprints, or strength or conditioning training. Then I do whatever discipline whether it’s wrestling, Jiu-jitsu, or boxing. I change it up.

6.) How have you been preparing for your fight against Fabio Mello?

I’ve been doing a lot of striking and Jiu-jitsu. Mainly, a lot of defense and trying to get up to my feet. I’m comfortable rolling on the ground with anyone, but there are some people where you should be standing instead.  I’ve really worked on my game plan.

7.) In your opinion, what is the best attribute of his game?

His Jiu-jitsu. He’s got a good arm triangle, which he’s proven. He’s very strong so he can control people.

8.) What is the best attribute of your game?

Speed. I’ve been gifted with being very quick. I like to use that to my advantage. It’s a big ingredient in this sport.

9.) How do you see the fight ending?

Knockout! I’m going to stick with my game plan and the best way to get a knockout is to not look for a knockout. Just go in there and do your thing, and what happens, happens.

10.) What was your favorite subject in school?

History. I’m not good at remembering dates and stuff like that, but I like history and learning about how the world evolved.

11.) Who were your heroes growing up?

Jean Claud Van Damme. I watched his movies constantly. I also grew up watching fighters like Matt Hughes.
