Ryan Benoit & Ray Borg Pre-Fight Interviews

By: Matthew Pearlman

On June 28th at the AT&T center in San Antonio, Texas, “The Baby Face” Ryan Benoit is back in the UFC cage against a tough Ray Borg. Ryan Benoit and Ray Borg are both looking for redemption after losing their debuts.

I caught up with Ryan Benoit and Ray Borg ahead of their bout on the undercard of Swanson vs. Stephens. When asked about how training has been going for Benoit, he mentions that he has, “been training hard. I changed up a few things but I’ve had a good head start. It’s been great so far!” Borg says, “I've been preparing for Benoit pretty much the same way I prepare for all my fights, just with a little more kick defense.”

Benoit says that, “Borg is a very tough opponent and he’s in the UFC for a reason, there is no doubt. He is a very good fighter, but I believe I am stronger and better than Borg.” I asked him if out of his ten professional fights, if Borg is the toughest opponent he’s faced, and he said, “I don’t think he is my toughest opponent, but he is a very tough opponent.” Borg says the same thing, “No, Benoit is not my toughest opponent.”

Borg mentions that his game plan is to, “go in there and fight like myself, which is very fast paced and aggressive.”

Ryan Benoit says, “I see the fight ending with my hand raised!” Borg adds, “I see the fight ending with me winning by submission.”

Borg says Benoit’s strengths are that, “he’s aggressive but has a lack of submission defense.”

Benoit wants to tell fans that, “the fight will be a great entertaining fight. At 125 pounds, you can’t blink, the fights are always good and fast paced.” Borg wants to tell fans that, “you can look forward to seeing a very fun action packed fight.” Borg wants to tell Benoit, “Good luck and lets’ put on a fight!”

Make sure you watch Ryan Benoit take on Ray Borg in an action-packed flyweight match on June 28th.
