Ricky "The Martian" Bell Post-Fight Interview By: Matthew Pearlman
Matthew: Walk me through the fight. Ricky: In the first round, the gameplan was to pick him apart and keep it standing. I wanted to use leg kicks, and look for the head kick KO. The fight went to the second round, and I got a TKO via the knee to the body, and I just finished him with punches.
Matthew: Who do you want next? Ricky: Whoever they want to give me. Whoever it is, they’re going to get taken out. They’re going to have a tough match.
Matthew: How do you plan on celebrating the win? Ricky: I’m going to go home and go to sleep. I’m actually fighting next weekend in Iowa, for True Revelation 22.
Matthew: How tough is that for you? Going back to back fights… Ricky: It’s not too bad. That’s why I try to finish my fights as soon as possible without major injuries, so I can get back into the gym and prepare for my next fight.
Matthew: What does a typical training day look like? Ricky: I have my normal 8-5 job, then I go straight to the Academy of Courage. It depends on the day, we have wrestling and jiu-jitsu programs, a pro class every Friday that really tests the soul and true heart of a fighter. If you can make it to the pro class at AOC, you have what it takes to step in the cage.
Matthew: What are your goals? Ricky: I’m going to raise the bar. In 2015, I want my first or second pro fight out of the way, and I’m looking at the next Ultimate Fighter Season at 135-145. That’s my goal and I’m going to do whatever it takes to get to that point.
Make sure you watch "The Martian" fight this week at True Revelation 22.
