One on One with Terrence Franks

By: Matthew Pearlman

Texas State Alum Terrence Franks was signed to the St. Louis Rams as an undrafted free agent. Find our interview below.

Matthew: How does it feel to be signed with the rams? What was your reaction?

Terrence: It feels really great. I was expecting the call sooner, but about an hour after the draft, I got a call from one of the Rams scouts. He asked if I’d like to be with the Rams, and I said, “I’d love to be with the Rams!” He congratulated me and he said the Rams are happy to have me!

Matthew: What does a typical training day look like for you?

Terrence: It’s not really different from college, you just have to be ready at all times. The coach can ask you a question at any time. You just have to be prepared.

Matthew: Who are some of your heroes?

Terrence: My dad, he started off with the Cowboys but he broke his foot. I also look up to Barry Sanders and Chris Johnson.

Matthew: What can fans look forward to seeing from you?

Terrence: They’ll see a guy who can bring talent, speed and agility. I bring leadership and can lead my team to a win.

Matthew: What current NFL player of Hall of Famer do you play most like?

Terrence: I would say Barry Sanders. He’s been my guy since I was little, I have always wore the number 20, but now my jersey number is 41 so I don’t know what to do with that! It’s pretty funny.

Matthew: What are some things you like to do when you’re not playing football?

Terrence: I like to chill out and just rest. You need a lot of rest when you’re in the NFL! I have some family out here so I hang out with them and they show me some things here in St. Louis.

Matthew: What’s your favorite part about being a football player?

Terrence: Just knowing that I’m in the NFL and that people respect you. It’s great to know that I made it, it’s a dream! Now that my dream is a reality, I know I need to put in the work because anyone can take my spot.

Matthew: If you weren’t a football player, what would you be?

Terrence: I would be a track star or baseball player. My first sport was baseball, but I just grew out of it. After baseball, track came around. I saw my friends do it and I started it and enjoyed it. I won state titles and Junior Olympics when I was smaller.
