Ten Questions with Carlyn Baldwin - Tennessee Women's Soccer Player

By: Matthew Pearlman

1.) What has been your career highlight?

My career highlight is playing in the 2014 U-20 Women's World Cup. Representing the United States at a World Cup is a dream come true. There are so many moments from that event that I will never forget.

2.) What are your goals for 2016?

My goals for 2016 are to get healthy. I've had injuries, so right now, I'm focused on getting healthy to be the best I can be for my team.

3.) Where do you see yourself in five years?

In 5 years, I hope to be playing professionally and with the Senior National Team.

4.) What is your favorite part about being a soccer player?

My favorite part about being a soccer player is getting to represent an amazing school and country. I also love being able to go back to where I played as a kid and help younger players develop.

5.) What is the best attribute of your game?

I think the best aspect of my game is keeping possession and fighting. I love keeping the ball as well as competing defensively to win the ball back.

6.) Who were your heroes growing up?

My heroes growing up were Mia Hamm, Abby Wambach, and Xavi.

7.) What do you like to do when you're not playing soccer?

In my free time, I love to train on my own and also hang out with my friends.

8.) What advice do you have for an aspiring soccer player?

My advice to an aspiring soccer player is to train on your own. Definitely listen to your body cause rest is important, but training on your own helps immensely. Also, be confident in yourself. It is really easy to overthink a lot of things, so the best way to prevent that is to believe in yourself.

9.) What does a typical day look like for you?

Right now I'm injured, so a typical day is going to class and then going to my team's practice. When I'm healthy, I will be training on my own as much as I can.

10.) Which current professional soccer player do you play most like?

The current professional I most play like is probably Kyle Beckerman.
